About the Tour

Tuscany is one of those places that photographers dream about - and it lives up to every expectation. Rolling hills at dawn, solitary cypress trees rising from the morning mist, medieval towers, vineyards stretching to the horizon. It’s all real, and it looks exactly the way you imagined. I’ve been to Tuscany many times and know it like my own backyard. Which means our itinerary goes beyond the iconic - we’ll visit locations that rarely appear on any map, places that tourists and photographers almost never reach. We’ll be based at a beautiful rural villa in the heart of Val d’Orcia, just minutes from Podere Belvedere and Cappella Vitaleta, moving around in a comfortable brand-new Toyota minivan. Add daily wine tastings and exceptional Italian cuisine, and you have a week that’s hard to improve on.

Itinerary

Day 1 Day 1

Arrival at Florence’s Amerigo Vespucci Airport at 1–2 pm, then straight to our villa. The evening begins with a sunset shoot close to the villa, followed by a welcome dinner. A gentle start - but the photography begins immediately.

Day 2 Day 2

We meet the sunrise at Poggio Covili, famous for its breathtaking cypress-lined path - one of the most iconic landscapes in all of Tuscany. After breakfast at the villa, we head to Pienza, one of the most charming towns in the region. We’ll walk its ancient stone streets, stop for coffee at Piazza Pio II, visit Pienza Cathedral, take in the panoramic views of Val d’Orcia, and sit down to a proper Bistecca Fiorentina. At sunset, we photograph one of the true symbols of the valley - the famous Cappella Vitaleta. Dinner at the villa to follow.

Day 3 Day 3

Sunrise at the famous Gladiator Villa - where Ridley Scott filmed key scenes of Gladiator with Russell Crowe. After breakfast at the villa, we drive to the ancient tuff towns, dramatic and unlike anything most photographers have worked with before. Sunset from a panoramic viewpoint in town, followed by an evening walk through the winding streets as the light fades.n.

Day 4 Day 4

A short drive brings us to our morning location - one of the most photographed villas in Tuscany. After the shoot and breakfast, we head to Montepulciano, one of the great winemaking centers of the region, for a tasting and a genuinely interesting story about Italian wine culture. If the weather cooperates, the evening will deliver one of the most beautiful sunsets in Tuscany near an iconic villa.

Day 5 Day 5

Morning light over the Crete Senesi hills - if mist settles into the valleys, this will be one of those Tuscan mornings you’ll talk about for years. We photograph sunset at Corsignano.

Day 6 Day 6

Sunrise near the villa. After a quick breakfast, we drive to Montalcino - another of Tuscany’s celebrated wine towns. Then on to San Gimignano, one of the most famous towns in the region. At its peak in the Medieval period, it has changed little since - surrounded by ancient walls, dominated by 14 stone towers that earned it the nickname of the “medieval Manhattan.” The historic center has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1990. It also happens to produce what many consider the finest gelato in the world. Sunset at San Quirico d’Orcia.

Day 7 Day 7

A final sunrise near the villa, then breakfast and the drive to Florence’s Amerigo Vespucci Airport. Tuscany has a way of making departure feel premature - but there’s always a reason to come back.

Oleg Rest

Oleg Rest

My name is Oleg Rest, I am a professional landscape photographer and traveler. I was born in Kazakhstan, the land of steps and severe climate. Since early childhood I was dreaming of traveling. I first took camera in my hands at 6, when my parents rented a Zenit film camera during our holidays on the Black Sea coast. I enthusiastically took pictures of my parents, later with my father we developed films in our bathroom and dried them on a rope. Now I shoot with a modern camera Canon R5, but nature and photography still inspire me the most. I have been to such amazing places as Patagonia, Norway, Iceland, Tuscany, Namibia, Slovenia, China, Moravia, the Alps and the Lofotens, Myanmar, Czech Switzerland and I wish to share my impressions and delight with you! Life is full of beauty. This is my motto. I am not a fan of sophisticated and time-consuming processing of photos. The best shot for me is the one that needs minimal processing. My main principles in photography are: Interesting composition Beautiful light Minimum of processing Nowadays it is hard to find a location where no photographer has ever been, that is why even in popular places I try to find an unusual foreground which makes any shot look in a new light. I have won several landscape photography competitions. My photos are published by Canon Czech Republic, Canon Ukraine. I am an ambassador of Lucroit filter manufacturer (Spain), H&Y (Hong Kong), software company Skylum (Luminar, Aurora HDR software) and backpack manufacturer f-stop (USA).
