About the Tour

Slovenia tends to surprise people. It’s a small country - easy to overlook on a map, but the density of extraordinary landscapes here is genuinely remarkable. Alpine lakes with water so clear they look unreal. Limestone gorges, thundering waterfalls, vine-covered hills, medieval churches perched on hilltops above the fog. And everywhere, that particular quality of Central European light that photographers chase for years. This is a week of serious photography in a country that rewards curiosity. Small group, expert guidance, great local food, and landscapes that change completely from one valley to the next.

Itinerary

Day 1 Day 1

Arrival at Ljubljana Airport, then we drive together to our cozy hotel. The evening begins at Lake Bled - one of the most photographed lakes in Europe, and for good reason. The small island with its pilgrimage church dedicated to the Assumption of Mary sits in the middle of the water like something from a fairy tale. First evening, first strong images.

Day 2 Day 2

We’re up before dawn for sunrise at Lake Bled. Then a short 30–35 minute hike takes us to a viewpoint above the lake - the kind of bird’s-eye panorama that makes you understand why this place is famous. During the day we explore Vintgar Gorge, a dramatic natural canyon and part of Triglav National Park, where the light filters through the rock in ways that reward a slow pace and a careful eye. Sunset at the beautiful Lake Bohinj.

Day 3 Day 3

Sunrise at Jamnik - a beautiful church on a hilltop, with views that stretch across the Slovenian countryside in every direction. We spend the day working the gorges and waterfalls of the Soča Valley, one of the most intensely beautiful river valleys in all of Europe. Sunset at Virje Waterfall.

Day 4 Day 4

Sunrise at Saint Thomas Church - and if the famous Slovenian morning fogs settle into the valleys, this will be one of those mornings that justifies the early alarm. During the day we visit one of the largest caves in Europe - a genuinely extraordinary underground world. Sunset at Saint Jacob’s Church.

Day 5 Day 5

One more opportunity to photograph the beauty of Lake Jasna in the morning light - some locations deserve more than one visit. Then we drive to Maribor to photograph the scenic Slovenian vineyards, where the rolling hills and orderly rows of vines make for compelling compositions at any time of day.

Day 6 Day 6

Sunrise at Lake Bohinj. Then we cross into Italy to photograph some of the most stunning alpine lakes and mountain landscapes in the region. We end the day near Lake Zelenci - a place of extraordinary stillness and color, particularly at sunset.

Day 7 Day 7

Slovenia has a way of making a week feel shorter than it was. After a final breakfast together, we head to Ljubljana Airport. Until next time:)

Your Guides

Oleg Rest

Oleg Rest

My name is Oleg Rest, I am a professional landscape photographer and traveler. I was born in Kazakhstan, the land of steps and severe climate. Since early childhood I was dreaming of traveling. I first took camera in my hands at 6, when my parents rented a Zenit film camera during our holidays on the Black Sea coast. I enthusiastically took pictures of my parents, later with my father we developed films in our bathroom and dried them on a rope. Now I shoot with a modern camera Canon R5, but nature and photography still inspire me the most. I have been to such amazing places as Patagonia, Norway, Iceland, Tuscany, Namibia, Slovenia, China, Moravia, the Alps and the Lofotens, Myanmar, Czech Switzerland and I wish to share my impressions and delight with you! Life is full of beauty. This is my motto. I am not a fan of sophisticated and time-consuming processing of photos. The best shot for me is the one that needs minimal processing. My main principles in photography are: Interesting composition Beautiful light Minimum of processing Nowadays it is hard to find a location where no photographer has ever been, that is why even in popular places I try to find an unusual foreground which makes any shot look in a new light. I have won several landscape photography competitions. My photos are published by Canon Czech Republic, Canon Ukraine. I am an ambassador of Lucroit filter manufacturer (Spain), H&Y (Hong Kong), software company Skylum (Luminar, Aurora HDR software) and backpack manufacturer f-stop (USA).
